What’s New Lucanet 25.1

On Wednesday, July 9, Lucanet 25.1 was officially launched during Lucanet.World, Lucanet’s annual user and partner day. It is clear that Lucanet is heavily investing in the transition to a fully fledged web client within the CFO Solution Platform. But what exactly is new? In this blog, we take you through the most important changes.

Key improvements in the Lucanet web client

The web client has been significantly expanded in version 25.1, which is especially visible in the ability to create and edit data rather than only view it. Below are the most important additions:

  • You can now drill down to transaction level in the web client.
  • You can now create elements such as posting environments, partners, data dimensions, and valuation dimensions.
  • Imports can now also be performed via the web client. Please note: for connections with on-premise sources, a separate SEA installation (Lucanet.Script Execution Application) is required.
  • Parts of the consolidation can now be performed within the web client.
  • A new AI Co-Pilot helps users navigate the help function and perform simple analyses. This is the first step in broader AI integration within the Lucanet platform. Future releases are also expected to include AI agents that can independently perform actions within the application.

What is not (yet) possible in the web client?

During our tests, we also encountered a number of limitations. What is still missing in the web environment?

  • No access to folder structures: Excel reports cannot yet be run from the web client.
  • Task management is not yet available. Lucanet is working on a new version that works across modules. However, it is currently still very limited in functionality.
  • Workflow automation is still missing. Think of the configuration of nightly tasks or the execution of multiple eliminations in succession.

Although not everything is possible yet, we expect these functionalities to become available in version 26 or 26.1. If you do not yet have access to the CFO Solution Platform, let us know and we will work with you to make it happen!

Excel 365 Excel Add-in

Lucanet introduces a new Excel Add-in that also works in Office 365 (the web version). After installation, you log in via Lucanet’s Cloud URL (usually something like https://companyname.platform.lucanet.cloud) using your Lucanet username and password. The formula functionality is largely comparable to the old Excel Add-in.

Please note: the YTD functionality still appears to be missing in the new version. The familiar LN.Value with YTD support is therefore not yet available, which makes migration more complex for some users. We assume that this will be added later.

Automatic historical exchange-rate conversion during a cumulative import

When setting up a posting environment, you can now choose automatic historical exchange-rate conversion for the carry forward booking. Instead of the standard exchange rate of the first month of the new financial year, the weighted average of the previous year is used.

Important: this exchange-rate conversion only applies to the carry forward account, not to retained earnings. This differs from earlier Lucanet assistants for processing the historical exchange rate on the result of the previous financial year.

Lucanet discontinues on-premise installations

Version 25.1 marks the definitive end of new on-premise installations. For existing customers with a local server, this is the last version that can be installed and updated on-premise. From version 26 onwards, Lucanet will only work via Lucanet.Cloud, which can only be made available by Lucanet itself. Of course, this can also be arranged via Arithma.

Support periods:

  • Cloud versions 24.1, 25, and 25.1: supported until July 27, 2026.
  • On-premise version 25.1: supported until December 31, 2026.

This means that on-premise customers have until December 31, 2026, to migrate to the Cloud environment.

An important step

With Lucanet 25.1, Lucanet takes an important step toward a fully functional web client in the form of the CFO Solution Platform. Many core functionalities are now available, especially for users with a read-only role. However, some crucial functions such as advanced workflows and task management are still missing — but they are high on the roadmap.

With the introduction of AI functionalities, improved Excel integration, and a clear cloud strategy, Lucanet shows where the future of the platform lies.
