From the Lucanet Financial Client to the Web Client: what does the transition mean for your organization?

The transition is approaching

Lucanet has announced that support for the Financial Client will end on 30 June 2027 (see the Lucanet Consolidation and Financial Planning Migration Hub). From that date onwards, organizations have to use the Web Client for Consolidation & Financial Planning, or CFP, within the Lucanet CFO Solution Platform, referred to below as the Platform.

The Platform also includes other Lucanet solutions, such as xP&A, Disclosure Management, XBRL, Leasing and ESG.

For many organizations, this may appear to be a relatively minor change, particularly if they already use the Lucanet Cloud Platform. However, the impact should not be underestimated. Almost all Lucanet cloud customers still work with the locally installed Financial Client on a daily basis.

The coming period is therefore the right time to start preparing for the transition to the Web Client.

Why is Lucanet making this change?

The Web Client forms the foundation for the future development of the Platform. New functionalities will only be developed for the Web Client.

The Web Client offers several benefits:

  • No local installation of the Software Manager;
  • Less dependency on local workstations;
  • Easier update management;
  • Improved accessibility through a web browser;
  • A modern platform on which future innovations will be developed;
  • One integrated platform for multiple Lucanet solutions.

For IT departments, this also means less system administration, fewer installations and a simpler update process.

The reality is more nuanced

Although the benefits are clear, our experience at Arithma shows that the transition involves more than simply changing the way users log in.

We are currently testing the CFP Web Client extensively. We assess the environment from the perspective of users who mainly view information and perform relatively simple Lucanet tasks, as well as controllers who work intensively with complex consolidations, reports and implementations daily.

Our initial impression is positive. The Web Client is developing rapidly, and an increasing amount of functionality is becoming available.

At the same time, we currently see several areas that may require attention from certain organizations, including:

  • The elimination of investments in subsidiaries for organizations applying the net asset value method;
  • File-based data imports, such as Excel imports and Audit File imports;
  • Refreshing LN.Value reports from the Web Client;
  • Connections to on-premises data sources, such as SQL Server;
  • Recording and maintaining documentation within the Web Client;
  • Data Collection, the successor to the Lucanet.Group Report module, which is not yet fully developed.

This does not mean that organizations should postpone their preparations. On the contrary, gaining experience now makes it possible to identify potential issues at an early stage.

It is also important to note that the Platform is already available to many Lucanet customers. These organizations can therefore already start using the Web Client. The Financial Client and the Web Client both use the same database, which means they can be used alongside each other during the transition period.

When is the right time to transition?

We expect that many organizations will be able to start the transition to the Web Client in earnest from Q4 of 2026.

However, the ideal timing will differ for each organization. Companies that make extensive use of advanced consolidation functionality, customized reports or specific interfaces will generally face different considerations from organizations with a relatively straightforward configuration.

We therefore recommend not waiting until support for the Financial Client ends, but starting now by reviewing:

  • The functionalities currently in use;
  • Interfaces and data sources;
  • Reports;
  • Customized processes;
  • Dependencies on the Financial Client.

Proper preparation will help prevent unexpected issues during the eventual migration.

Does this also apply to your organization?

For Arithma customers, the technical step is often smaller than expected. All customers that purchase support directly from Arithma already have access to the Platform as part of their current license.

They therefore only need to start using it once all the functionality they rely on is available in the Web Client.

Organizations that purchase their license directly from Lucanet or through another partner may first need to complete a commercial transition to the Platform before they can make full use of the Web Client.

This is another reason why it is important to assess the current situation well in advance.

How can Arithma help?

We closely follow the development of the Web Client and test new functionalities even before they become widely available.

This enables us to support organizations with:

  • Assessing the impact on their current Lucanet environment;
  • Testing the Web Client;
  • Identifying potential areas of concern;
  • Adjusting interfaces and reports;
  • Managing a controlled transition to the Web Client.

This ensures that the transition aligns with the way your finance department operates and helps prevent unnecessary surprises during the migration.
